Sotogrande International School

SIS is proud to offer a different, personalized approach to learning that not only achieves excellent academic results, but also produces happy, well-rounded children. The primary goal of the school is to encourage students to be represented by different cultures and to help children maximize their intellectual, artistic and physical potential. This is achieved by helping them to find their passions and to guide them to their full potential as artists, writers, and musicians.

Sotogrande International School Review

Conveniently located for the residents of both Soto Alto and Costa the school is equally convenient from other areas including Estepona and Benahavis. A trek from Marbella (and East Marbella especially) would be considered a drive too far for most parents. A school bus is available for an additional fee, although may parents do tend to socialize while waiting for school pickup of younger children.

With a fiercely loyal band of core parents Sotogrande International School receives a more broader mixed reaction, which is to be expected with such a diverse group of parents. SIS produces consistently good results in the upper average range. Sotogrande International School students go on to study in the USA, Australia and United Kingdom at a variety of Universities.

English is still the most popular language in the playground unlike some of the other schools along the Coast and the school is of a good size. Importantly, Sotogrande International has weathered the storm of many recessions since being founded in 1978. With just over 600 students ranging in age from 3 to 18 years the International School in Sotogrande is one of the largest on the Coast with exceptional facilities.

SIS has school-based specialist academies in Golf and Football which are producing exceptional players. Their golf academy currently boasts an Elite Squad with four Spanish national champions plus one world champion. To broaden the sports on offer and deliver the highest level of integrated sport programs, they partner with world-class local partners including Soto Tennis Academy, Tarifa Kitesurf Camp and more. In November they launched the Sotogrande International Polo Academy in collaboration with Santa Maria Polo Club, to further broaden the sports offering at the school.

Sotogrande International School Admissions

Despite protestations from the school, entry into any years at SIS is easy, upon payment of fees. Sotogrande International  is not a selective education system yet their fees do tend to match those of some top tier English Private Schools such as Rugby and Harrow.

Sotogrande International School Fees

Fees at SIS are at the upper end of the scale in the Marbella, Sotogrande area and indeed for the whole of mainland Spain. As with most International Schools one of the perks of being a teacher is free education at the school for your children and there are no shortage of teachers children at Soto International. SIS also offers large subsidies for the children of support staff which sometimes irks full fee paying parents.

Sotogrande International School Uniform

For the Sotogrande International School Uniform they opt for traditional blues and whites with the uniform designed with the Spanish sun in mind.

The SIS Uniform is only available from the official school shop on campus which is a cash only affair. As a new starter expect to leave the uniform shop around 300 euros lighter.

As with most school uniforms quality of materials is not of paramount importance so some families purchase better quality plain uniforms and have someone tailor on a logo. While officially frowned upon more than a handful of teachers children at SIS sport non-official uniform!
